If you spending that kind of cash i'd say an audition is absoluty crital.The Grados do have hum problems in certain circumstances but it's due to the cartridge it's self not being shielded not the arm or player. I personally have only found Grado hum a problem with AC motors....
Have a listen to a direct drive deck if you can, just as an experiment.
I personally like the choice of your phonostage, solid. Note though that unless it's the version with built in step up transformers you'll really only be able to use it with MM, as it stands.
