I second the nod for Spoon's GIMME FICTION. Fantastic! Also, if you don't already have last year's Arcade Fire album, FUNERAL, you should snatch that up also. The two best albums of the last year IMO.For grand Brit rock, skip the new Coldplay and give the latest Doves album, SOME CITIES, a spin (though the vinyl version is a pricier import, I think). If you like 80s post-punk in a darker mood (think The Smiths headed by Debbie Harry) then check out GRAB THAT GUN by The Organ.
Engineers have a self-titled LP out (ENGINEERS, obviously) that's got a very mellow, yet expansive, vibe and sounds like a mix between Air and Pink Floyd. And if you like singer/songwriter stuff, Ray LaMontagne's TROUBLE is quite nice (though I'm not sure if it's on vinyl).
