Personally, I'd clunk for a VSPS or phonoclone built on veroboard. Either will outperform the NAD, and will cost peanuts... Heck you could even mount either in the NAD case, and re-use the PSU and socketry...My personal (unfashionable) preference is for the LF353 as it's circuitry is very akin to the LM1875/3875, and to my ears has a smooth orund sound (against the BB offerings which whilst very HiHi lacked a certain 'organic' touch).
The upshot is the whole circuit may cost about 2 dollars a side excluding PSU using the LF353.. less than a machiato
Now there's a thought.
