The base you refer to does not sound nearly as good as the 200 series hardwood bases. In fact I would be confident that the baltic birch bases used on the 150 and 160 will outperform it. I was very surprised when I did the comparison a few years ago. A lot of work and what seemed like good theory went into the serial #1 design. I suspect that the use of aluminum vs wood is primary factor for the difference.
