It really is a special thread. It must be descriped as a sort of round section leaf spring. You can find it in the interiour of all sorts of automatic players. It helps some parts to return to its old position. Real steel for springs.

I do not expect much influence of temparature changes. My mechanical theoretic background does not warn me for a modulus of elasticity (E) which likes to change with normal temparatures below 50 degrees C.

I seldomly have problems with static with my TT's. This one has not been checked for grounding wiring. But IMO this Philips is more hummy than a Shure M91 E. That one is my favourite. Runs in circles around every Philips cart. But even with the Philips no problems with static, neither with the VTF- gauge.

I'm sorry, it was for the sweater....No problems with static on that one to! I do not even know if there is any real wool in it. But my wife cannot live with wool around her.
