These Duals were nice devices for their price. We had to pay 300 guilders (one euro equals 2.2 guilders) for a 505-II like this. It came with a OM10, a 7g reasonably refined arm, a cute detachable headshell and a suitably silent motor unit.The puck is a peace of round massive aluminium bar with a 8 mm hole in the middle. I think the dearing cab bear it. I have not tried if there is a difference with or witout. I try to place the thing carefully, without any impact on the bearing.
This weekend I found it back between old stuff. The sound of the cartridge did not inspirate to do experiments. But I will try the thing with and without. I expect reasonable improvement, at least with some of those warped Lp's I own.
