Yeah, we're the same age as Declan McManus and two years younger than David Byrne. If you look at those of us who were Born In The (early) Fifties, we were pretty productive.I had similar experiences in the States. I was just a bit too young to go to Woodstock, but I did move to NYC in 1977. Pretty soon I was hanging out at the Mudd Club, seeing the Contortions and and Lydia Lunch, and buying wraparound sunglasses at Trash and Vaudville. The way I figure, we had the benefit of perspective on both worlds. We got to listen to Sgt. Pepper when it came out, and didn't end up like some of my friends who stopped listening to music made after 1976.
Now to dig out that copy of Marquee Moon.
