Try the AT MG10 headshell - The AT arms are longer than the Technics arm (for example) so the headshell lengths are much shorter than the Techncis and other Universal SME bayonet headshells and I had the reverse problem with the MG10!! I couldn't get it long enough even for the 15mm overhang spec!
It's odd that you are having so much difficulty with the overhang - the typical tip to mounting screw centreline distance is typically in the range 7.5 to 9.5mm with 8.5mm being a fairly typical range. I'll have a look at my Shure TypeV but I'm pretty sure from memory it was about 8.5mm as well.
