You can use a normal sharpened #2 wood pencil. Put the tapered part of the pencil in the record hole, and apply a slight amount of pressure as you rotate the pencil in the hole. It doesn't take much force, and you can always repeat with a little more force, so easy does it. I've found you only need to do this from one side.
