I am not a regular over at diyaudio, but I have absorbed the "wisdom" of guru's that solid core is to be preferred vs stranded. There are many reasons posited for this idea, but if I were to recite them, it would be mere hearsay. A parrot could do it as well. Was I listening to the wrong drummer? Also, thinnest gauge possible is to be preferred over thick, for signal carrying wire. I know this will rile DLM et al. For sure, thick gauges are to be preferred in and around power supplies, etc. So this is a dilemma if you are building an SE amplifier where theoretically everything is in the signal path. But I don't build SE amplifiers, so maybe I am not in conflict with the stranded wire crowd.
Early on, after I received this gospel, I did do some listening tests on my own in the context of a preamplifier I was building, and my listening told me that the basic dictum was valid. But the science could go either way, I admit.
