If that classical LP collection is a really good one, it's more that worth it to invest in a decent turntable even if you buy or are given no more LPs. For around $500-$1,000 you can buy a brand new turntable and cartridge that will serve you well. If your amplifier doesn't have a built-in phono stage, you need to get a phono pre-amp for maybe a couple hundred more because, as others have mentioned, the LP signal need to be boosted more than other sources.
Cleaning is a good idea, I use the Disc Doctor system, very inexpensive and effective, especially for LPs that are in pretty decent shape to begin with.
That should leave plenty of money for digital music. There's a lot of great music on vinyl that was never reissued digitally. There's a lot of great digital music that hasn't been released on vinyl. Enjoy it all.
