I'm sure John will respond, but I think the term here refers to LPs with a rather wide run-out groove, the area between the edge of the label and the end of the innermost groove that has music on it. Lofgren A puts the inner null point further away from the spindle than most other geometries, which suits modern LPs very well. For example, you would not want to use Stevenson for such LPs. Stevenson is better suited to first generation LPs that often encoded information up to within a cm of the edge of the label.
