There are some very nice sounding sounding inexpensive tables! So it's all up to the person's preference. Sometimes you don't need the most expensive gear to have a great sounding system.

For me, I invested in a nice quality table and have been very happy. My digital side is not very expensive but sounds very good with a very nice tube DAC. The CD player is a Pioneer Elite PD 59 with a. Musical Paradise MP-D1 DAc and I stream with my Dell computer. Great sound.
