Actually I own two of them. And it works. I bought this new lifter anyway.
The Q-Up constantly needs readjustment but does the job. If you put a little glue in the mounting base (it slides back and forth in the base) it would not need readjustment but I'm not sure that would turn out OK either.
In the end this new lifter looks like a higher quality solution and considering what I have invested in hardware and LPs, its cheap.
I won't know whether its really any better until I try it but I was wondering what I would get myself for Christmas. I bought the full set with the multiple bases in brass color.
