Beverly Kenney- not a name widely known in the world of music. Kenney was one of the many, it seems, who blossomed as a jazz singer in the 50s just at the time rock and roll was emerging. She had a wonderful voice and was beginning to be recognized as a unique talent, making several records and playing some well known venues. She was even on the Steve Allen Show singing a song she composed: ,"I hate rock and roll." But music was moving in a different direction and a successful career was not to be. She committed suicide at age 28 in NYC, taking barbiturates and alcohol.Unfortunately, though she made a number of albums, there is very little available on vinyl except at exhorbitant prices. There are, however, some recently released cds of her albums.
