Hi all,
I am in deep shit!
Even though this will certainly create a firestorm (I have already conveniently donned my fireproof long johns!) I traded my Empire 698/Denon 301MkII/step-up tranny/Bottlehead pre to a friend on a temporary loan, and it came back today...
During transport (unbeknownst to my friend), the cable connector/cable got extracted from the arm! Now, there are five wires protruding from the base of the arm; one with green varnish (ground, I'm guessing) and four others that are brass colored.
Before I spend lots of time trying to figure out which wires go where, is there anyone here that can clue me in on what goes where???
grinagog, Dave-in-VA, anybody? I need a shoulder to cry on and some help, to at least settle my nerves enough to trace the wiring up through the headshell, and get this put back together...
I know I have to disconnect the cart first, and use the headshell wiring to figure out what's what, but if someone can give me a light at the end of the tunnel!
Handling these wires (that are, and I am not exaggerating!) that are like human hair is going to be tough and getting a continuity meter on them will be worse... but soldering them will be nearly impossible, I'm thinkin'!
Just thinking about it is giving me the hives... :2|
Spin on, Muffin! RIP
