Allegedly, the more recent Decca box used the same masters and end users who compared them to the 2003 SACD/DSD versions feel like are even better than those. The only Stones treatment that seemed to be universally panned was the Exile redo from a few years back.

Would it be fantastic to have Stones Decca mono material done from even a high quality tape safety master and have darn near an entire analog process? Sure. Though in 2016.. who knows if it's really practical to do so. They're also maybe not the automatic slam dunk that the Fabs have always been in terms of sales. They put out a Beatles Love lunchbox and it'll sell out and increase in value in less than a year.

I'd appeal to you dirtyvinyl or other more Stones knowledgeible than myself.. but I never found the early Stones material in stereo to be the victim of bad panning that the Beatles stuff was. The Beatles mono stuff for me was crucial. As a Beatle geek, not hearing something, for example, like, "Drive My Car" with a tambourine, two vocals in the left channel.. and say, the bass, lead vocal and drums in the right. It was not good and a total disservice to super iconic, beloved music.

Yeah it sucks that it didn't get the same level of transfer treatment that the Beatles mono box did.. but did the material need it as much? And are enough people willing to spend on, yet another, quality Stones reissue box?

The Stones stuff from '04 sounds better than the Beatles stereo stuff from 2011 does to my ears.
