Guess this may be the third ditto.
I believe you have only three basic choices:
Good - polish the platter as suggested, just clean the chassis as best you can; I don't expect any body polish will help the scratches.
Better - once cleaned, you might try one of the automotive scratch/chip touch up kits if you can match the color. I've not tried this.
Best - as Lew and Penguin suggested, remove everything from the chassis, strip it, have it repainted in the automotive color of your choice. There is a sparkly white Lexus color I think might look really nice if you want something other than black or silver.
