the platter can be polished with high quality aluminum polish like simichrome or mothers fairly fast. The chassis has a protective coating over the alu that should be stripped before refinishing. otherwise the surface quality will suffer. If you want clear aluminum finish you have to regenerate the brushed surface. That can be tricky with home tools. You could probably get the top evenly surfaced with 240 to 400 grit paper on a surface plate and a guide. The sides will be very difficult to get even and similar to the top. I would look for someone who is equipped to do that job. If you want an even brushed finish you should practice first on some scrap aluminum about the same size. You can buy 12"x12"x1" pieces of mic 6 cast alu plates for under $150, and re sell it for the same on eBay, you only loose the cost of shipping it and the eBay ransom.
