The "trick" is to lower and raise the stylus vertically into the Magic Eraser, never move sideways.
Also it may be a good idea to follow up with a regular stylus brush just to be sure none of the micro fibers remained on the stylus via static cling. You don't want to start "cleaning" your record grooves with those.
I've been using a Magic Eraser since I first read about it here a few years ago. That means with multiple cartridges and no problems by following this procedure, only clean styli. ;^)
