Lew,
No, I'm in Boston MA. I purchased the Vida during a business trip there, and purchased the P3 via a broker who purchased it on my behalf on Yahoo auctions, and had it serviced for me by Pioneer Japan.
The only comparisons I have for the Vida are the K&K Audio phono stage, and the Hagerman Bugle 2. Both were definitely poorer but in different ways - the Hagerman sounded a little mushy and thin midrange. The K&K was somewhat boring and flat, undynamic and a little rolled off on the highs.
I bought the Vida sight unseen (or ear unheard) based on reviews, and the sage advice from a close friend of mine. I very much buy into the LCR equalization approach, and the use of solid state in phono stages having designed tube gear extensively - getting tube gear that quiet is no mean feat. To my ears, you cannot 'hear' that the Vida is solid state - it is extremely transparent and musical, awesome sense of space, very dynamic but still sounds highly balanced. I'm not wanting anything right now in terms of sound.
Robert
