I wonder if it monitors platter speed. If not, I guess you have to set the speed with a strobe disc or a RoadRunner tach.

If it is expected to compete with the RoadRunner/Eagle combo, its price should be $759 or less and it should provide automatic speed control in addition to manual speed control.
