Welcome Licorice Pizza (LP) lovers! Setup guides and Vinyl FAQ.

I use NSF wire shelves.....

I bought mine at Lowe's. They're black, measure 36" wide, 14" deep and 55" high. Mine has 4 shelves. There is 15" clearance for LPs on the bottom shelf, 16" clearance for LPs on the two middle shelves and the top shelf is as high as possible when set up - put anything else you want up there.

After putting it together I cut 1/4" fiberboard to fit the top of each shelf. Because the ends of each shelf are open, I cut more fiberboard for the ends for vertical mounting, drilled a hole in each corner where the inside of each pillar is (top and bottom) and used black tie wraps going through those holes and around the pillars to secure them.

With the smooth surface of each piece of fiberboard face up on the shelves, LPs go in and out easily. The wire shelving is very strong and does not sag. I remember paying about $70 for the shelving some years ago and the fiberboard ran about $40. So, about $110 for each unit. Each shelf has 33" of usable LP storage so each unit gives you a little over 8 linear feet of LP storage.

NSF wire shelving comes in different dimensions to suit your purposes. I use what I stated above. You can adjust shelves to within an inch of any height you want. I prefer pillars of 1" diameter. Units with 3/4" diameter pillars are not as strong once put together but they still work. Wire shelving is also available at restaurant supply stores.
