I bought a Nottingham 294 in part because of the design of the motor. It is so weak that the platter muct be started rotating with a hand push. I thought that, therefore, it would be too weak to respond to current fluctuations and cogging by the motor. Well, it's a really good table and I enjoyed it. Then I ran onto a guy who had a Nottingham motor controller(on the vinyl asylum) at an irresistible price so I bought it. Good Grief! My table took a quantum leap in sound reproduction.. Now I dont wish for more. With an Ortofon Cadenza Black I'm set . The controller made the difference.
