Pick your database of choice, or use a spreadsheet, and enter the data on the LPs. If you use a spreadsheet, make sure you can't screw up the data with the "sort" menu. I used the old Bento database - here's a screen shot:
With this, I can search for "Britten" and find every LP of his, along with every LP that has a cut of his. It's a pain to type it all in, but has the side benefit of being good documentation for your insurance company should you ever suffer a catastrophe.
I extended it for CDs, which are in binders, by composer for classical, and by performer for the other categories.
Files are in folders by either composer or performer - it doesn't matter, as a search brings up either.
I put everything in the database, so a search brings up everything. Now if I can only figure out why my uploaded asylum pics are loading upside-down, or left, or right, all would be good.
