Since my posting I have found one report elsewhere concerning the loss of a stylus on a Shure V15 from using an electronic cleaner. When this happened is not revealed.
I agree with you in regard to a good liquid cleaner/preservative and brush. In my case I have been using Lyra SPT for no better reason than I also use a Lyra cartridge and it is the recommended stuff.
Unfortunately my days of being able to offer a brush up to a stylus are now virtually over due to my loss of vision. I now have no effective binocular vision for distances under 2 or 3 metres. My second arm and cartridge being at right angles to the usual arm position and at the rear of the 'table means that I cannot see if there even is a cantliver :-(. Setting up the new arm was rather difficult to say the least. So I am now using a modified Onzow goo "dipping" cleaner and trusting that it works. NB; the modification was to transfer the goo to a portion of an old credit card so that it is at a more usable height than is offered in the original product.
Kind Regards
Pete
