I have found that stylus shape doesn't matter that much. It's the synergism of stylus canti, and motor that matter most.. Now different styli do sound different but better is subjective. I have a Denon DL-103R that I just live the sound of. It doesn't get all the details off of the record but that is ok by me. Some like styli that get all the details, which are nice to. But mount these finely cut styli wrong and you will do more damage to your records than a lesser cut stylus. Some say that a spherical cut stylus with a high tracking force will also damage your records. So far I have not found this to be true.....pick your poison...
