About six months ago I bought a new Onkyo DD turntable for $500 bucks from Music Direct. I figured I could use it while messing around with my vintage tables. I pulled the Onkyo out of the box to carry over to the shelf it was to be sitting on. The bearings in the tonearm were rattling (I guess a common problem with these) I didn't even set it down. I put it back in the box and sent it back. I guess the moral of the story is, todays budget turntables are made to look good but the quality sucks....
