Well, I've had my new toy now for a week

A month or so ago I was thinking upgrade my cartridge. Then I came to the conclusion that I was putting the cart(pun intended) before the horse and I should start with upgrading my turntable first. While doing some research(reading reviews, prices,etc) I logged into Music Directs website and saw that they had a VPI Classic 3 SE on sale,new in box, for 33% off. Did some more research and took the plunge. I thought this an opportunity that should not be passed.
After living with the Classic for a week I am very pleased with my decision. My old table was a Nottingham Interspace w/heavy platter and Origin Live Silver arm/Sumiko Celebration cartridge which I thought sounded very good. With the Classic and using my Sumiko cartridge I am somewhat surprised at the amount of difference. The music seems like a layer of fuzz (I know this all sounds like reviewer speak) has been removed and everything is noticeably cleaner. The music also sounds more open and airier and the bottom end seemed to have more heft. The sum of these improvements made for long fatigue-free listening sessions. One night I listened for four straight hours, a record for me. I thought my old table set-up was good but this took it to another level. The difference were not subtle.
