I've been using the same sandbox base for several TT's since a VPI TNT with flywheel. There is a separate top plate for each footer to limit lateral transmission of vibration between the footers.
The PD444 tonearm platforms slide on tracks and have a fairly solid locking mechanism. Once pivot-to-spindle distance has been determined for a particular tonearm, it's easy to vary this on the fly with reference to a graduated scale along the track. All-in-all, a well designed system, except perhaps for the relatively light mass of the stock 1/8" thick arm boards. I suspect I improved on this with thicker 3/8" brass armboards.
