touraj sez that his use of the acrylic plinths on his vertere's is for greater consistency(ie-sameness) of results regardless of the support.
I suspect that sales to Singapore and Dubai blingmeisters may have had some influence as well.
anyway....I found it most curious as he went from a corian-like composite on TMS2 back to Medite (mdf)as the primary upgrade for TMS3.That said, his "serious" tables(ie:Xerxes,TMS,Vertere) aren't really representative of the "big plastic" class of tables to which I was referring as they utilise fairly low mass 2 piece aluminum platters with lightweight, low-noise main bearing designs.
