To double check, I had the original ROK motor running the platter, and the platter was spinning clockwise, but the motor was spinning counterclockwise. The Papst motor was running clockwise, but coffee-phil enlightened me on how to reverse the rotation, so that hurdle is cleared. I'n not trying to point out that you are wrong, but in case another inmate is contemplating a swap like this, they may find the info useful.
I just like the added inertial energy from the "flywheel" motor, plus the hysteresis synchronous motor is more immune to speed variation due to line voltage fluctuations. Another plus is I don't have to wait 20 minutes for the motor to stabilize, and should have a lower noise floor (I hope).
