I'm taking a guess that the OP is discussing the Technics SP-25 in the SL-1025 configuration, motor/tonearm/plinth. Technics offered three plinths for the SP-25 which wuld also accommodate the SP-15, the SH15B1, SH15B2 and SH15B3. The SH15B1 was rosewood veneer, larger and had a smoked dustcover, this might be what he is referring to but this one was commonly found with the SP-15/SL-1015 but probably could be special ordered.
