Hi there
you seem to be doing all the right things already.i think a different is needed for folk, pop,
Rock (and blues), jazz. Classical. At minimum 2 cartridges are needed. For rock and blues
i find the mm cartridges to be much better than mc cartridges. The rare exception is the ubiquitous 103 . However the 103 does require a retip (mandatory) and a good step device. So a good mm will often trump the 103. For mm..For my listening biases, the choices at the top ( i own everything
I am recommending) include reconditioned grace ruby, reconditioned technics epc100,stanton 881, music maker, garrot optim-fgs. I am less enthusiastic about the clearaudio mm even though they do nothing wrong . I hqve not heard the top new mm from ortofon but i think they should be added to the list. Basically mm have a natural pacing that mc seem to struggle to get. The mc virtues (which are questionable) usually are not needed for rock and blues.
