The SRA "guideline" that you hear about (92 degrees) is just to be in the middle of the range 0 to 5 degrees which is the allowable range for cutting angle. It is not an absolute and you may well find a record for which your "90 degrees" is actually optimum. That said, with lacquer springback effects, most of the time you want to be at least 91 degrees.
What is wrong with 90?
Nothing except that SRA mismatch results in greater IMD than VTA mismatch, so if you play a record that really needs say 92 degrees then it could sound rather gritty...
