Having owned two SL-1200Mk2 in the past if they are in excellent condition no reason why the table wouldn't be suitable for home use. It should be good to go in stock form with the exception of possibly changing out a DJ cartridge if it is so equipped. Re the pitch instability there is none, that's rubbish, you should have no need to use the adjustable pitch in home use. One of the 1200 I owned was completely stock and the other was modified/upgraded and to be honest it was difficult to hear a difference between them. About the only required maintenance is Technics oil for the bearing every 2000 hours.
