Just got this yesterday, shipped from Acoustic Sounds.
Man, talk about a record that is a major subwoofer workout disc!
If I had to sum up this music as a stand alone piece (I've only seen Tron: Legacy once), it is the love child of a three-way between Bernard Herrman, Philip Glass and Wendy Carlos (draw your own conclusions!); amazing synth sounds (hints of Tomita and Synergy), great orchestration (more Glass-like repetitive string parts and a lot of horn work outs in spots) and a mastering job (done at Bernie Grundman Mastering) that makes the music grab you, rattle your brain (and listening area).
I was rather surprised at the quality of this offering. While it is NOT an Analog Productions release, Disney (yes, Walt Disney Records) must know it's market for a soundtrack like this. Quiet surface with maybe one or two ticks here and there. Like the Blade Runner soundtrack released by Audio Fidelity a few years ago, I am baffled how they managed to cut this much bottom end onto the two discs.
Not for the faint of heart or Crosley turntable owners!
