in project design see Cinemag site diagrams. My SUT sounds fantastic. There is a presence that my head amps lack. Not detail, realism or black background, but a palpable sound stage.Cost is dependent on both the image of the box, and the quality of the interconnecting parts, such as switches, RCA's etc.Whether this makes a difference is debatable, but considering the level of signal I was willing to be fussy compared to connections within a power amp. I used good silver switches and rhodium plated RCA's. Probably overkill but I am happy.
Consider a ground lift switch as well as the level switch. I had much pain locating and removing hum without one as interconnects can pick up RFI.
Parts connection & Digikey are your friends in this process.
