Hiss and head shell screws: fixed

A word to the wise (which you probably all know, but perhaps a reminder to someone that might prove helpful.)

I had a lot of hiss in the left channel in my TT.

I kept looking for the problem and got out my geo-disc to check the cartridge alignment. The alignment was very close.

I discovered one of the head shell screws was not very tight.

Tightened up the screw and ensured the alignment was good, and the particular offending hiss in the left channel was gone.

Moral of the story: make sure your head shell screws are tight. I'm sure they can loosen over time. When mine did, they sure induced a noise into the records. Probably crept up slowly as the screw loosened over time.

So go check em folks, maybe your sound will tighten up, too.
