I'm planning on picking up a Audio Technica AT33-EV cartridge soon, but having never owned a decent MC cartridge I have some questions.
I recent heard this cartridge on another system and was thoroughly impressed. Bass and detail were outstanding, so it seems this would be a great cartridge for someone like me that listens to a lot of 70's and 80's rock.
The issue is that I don't have a step up transformer, and with .3 mv output I'm going to have to boost the signal. I really like the phono section on my Mike Samra rebuilt Sherwood s5000, especially with the Telefunken's in there so I really don't want to use a outboard phono pre.
DIY is fine - I can solder and have an extensive wood shop.
I was thinking about Bob's Devices, but don't know???
How about loading? Type of arm(s) that work best?
Any advice from you fellas would be much appreciated.
