RE: Amused To Death Reissue

I picked up a copy yesterday at the California Audio Show. They let me open it to make sure it wasn't the picture disc and to look at condition. To my surprise the first LP had a hairline scratch on each side. They didn't have another copy, but did tell me return would be fine if audible.

Brought it home and played it without cleaning it on my Okki Nokki, letting my Shibata clean the grooves; something I rarely do. The beginning of side one had a low bit of noise starting off, but not any clicking. Side two issue was inaudible. One cleaning and all will be fine I'm sure. Though in my one-off case, I can't vote strongly for quality control.

I've been waiting for this to rerelease for a long time, and the wait was worth it. Much smoother presentation than the CD, and I didn't pickup on any major remastering changes on first run through. All of the Q-Sound effects were where I expected, having listened to the CD the day before as a refresher. I suspect I'll listen closer for the fun of it when a day comes with nothing else to do.

All in all, I'm pleased with the LP. While it's not everyone cup of tea, I've always enjoyed the music.

See ya. Dave
