Recently I picked up this DG LP reissue...

Pollini's Beethoven Piano Concerto 2 & 4.
Released in 1983, Concerto No.2 is a digital recording whereas No.4 is an analogue recording from 1976.

Granted, there are a few years apart and different conductor but same venue, same orchestra, same pianist ( probably the same piano ), and same engineer were involved.

No.4 is a poor reissue of the original pressing ( the entire concerto squeezed onto one side ), but hands down, I much prefer this analog recording over the brittle stark sounding digitally recorded No.2 put on a vinyl.

I know that all digital recordings from this era do not sound as poor as DG's but I thought it was interesting that they actually thought this threadbare colourless digital was better!
