1. I never had the same cartridge on them.
2. I listened to the SL-1015 exclusively on headphones for the last year and no longer have them.
Sorry I can't give you a direct answer ...I just never had the inclination to do a side-by-side to discern sonic differences.
In the context of my system, I am certain much of the SL-1015's potential went untapped, while the SL-1200 is a perfect fit. I can't imagine ever wanting to own a table that could better the SL-1015 and I see the SL-1200 as the point of diminishing returns ...at least in my world. Which I guess may sort of answer your question in a vague sort of way.
