I thought his albums sounded consistently good

"Beautiful Loser" is maybe my fave, and I like the way it sounds. Sure, it's not the last word in detail/extension, but it has its moments. The drums, bass and vocal on Black Night are dynamic, gritty Nd just a tad rolled off on the top end. And considering tracks like "Katmandu" and "Nutbush City Limits", with all that high frequency energy, it's probably a good thing that it's essentially non-fatiguing, especially at the high volumes one is likely to listen to Bob at.

"Against The Wind" is a very good recording. "You'll Accompany Me" images exceptionally well on my system and Bob's range and power are a thing to behold. One of the best memories of my Mom (May She Rest In Peace) was dancing with her to "Betty Lou's Gettin' Out Tonight". The sax solo rocks. Bob had a great backing band, and his guests were top notch. Members of the Eagles, Muscle Shoals...they loved playing with him. And Bob's not bad on guitar either. That's him playing the lead on "Her Strut".

Love his lyrics too...

"The pony cars are cruisin' on woodward avenue
Go and try to pass 'em
They'll smoke you if you do
The whole town's shakin' from the bottom to the top
Everybody wants to do the horizontal bop."

"Hope is a good thing. Maybe, the best of things. And no good thing ever dies."
