SL1200 owners, what is your preferred protractor ? ...

I spent the afternoon futzing with my table and first used the "Stupid Protractor" from the Vinyl Engine and then the SL-1200 specific protractor, again from the Vinyl Engine.

Neither of them got me where I wanted to be, so I started adjusting by ear and I am almost there. Its a tedious process.

I remember the SL-1200 coming with an alignment device and think that's all I used last time around and was very successful. Does anyone use/prefer that tool ?

Alignment sure gets tougher as the eyes get older. Good things my ears still work ...or maybe not !

My torture track is "Gringo" on Little Feat's "Hoy Hoy". Last track, Side 3. I don't know if historically I've had issues because it is the last track or if I have a less than stellar pressing ...but Billy Payne's vocals and those of the back-up singers can be sibilant at times (particularly on the s's, as is often the case with sibilance) and taming it takes a helluva' lot of patience.

I'm confident I will get there ...I'd just prefer to get there more quickly.

Thanks guys.

Dean.

reelsmith's axiom: Its going to be used equipment when I sell it, so it may as well be used equipment when I buy it.
