I think they missed the boat on more than just skating force, but I totally agree with your assessment.
I found it interesting they used a stepper motor. Good speed control (of the motor at least, the platter, wwwweeeellll....), but much more cogging and vibration than an AC synch motor.
They haven't published any specs on W&F, speed accuracy, distortion, rumble etc. Wonder if they even know about these?
Of course at $450 retail and the look of this thing, I don't think their target market was audiophiles; more like clueless millenials who care more about aesthetics than about sound quality.
