The ET spec'ed their IC's as the ST was prone to picking up noise. The trend, even today is towards non shielded cables and their's were very well shielded. There are a number of great offerings today which also offer good shielding, so I am not particularly worried.

In a way, I find the ET interesting because it is more than just a SUT. IIRC, the individual transformers sat in a shielded copper box and the heavy steel chassis was similarly shielded with a heavy copper plate on the inside...
