Need a cheap turntable

So my 12 year old just saw a turntable in person for the first timne in a novelty store at the mall. It was one of those awful USB Crosley jobs and not even plugged in, but he is intrigued and wants to hear records.

I want to get something that is not a total piece of junk. Forget anything USB, but not really expensive either. Like under $100. I'm guessing he will lose interest after realizing that he can't connect his IPod to it, but he is starting out on the Sax so maybe he'll hear sounds that his IPod can't reproduce and wantr a better one later.

I have a mid 90s Pioneer amplifier that is heavyish. It has a phono input. Probably not great, but workable.
