My first "kit" was a hafler DH-200 & DH-110; since then I've done more DIY stuff than the commercial "kit".

A LOT more bang for the buck than some retail dreck. And I know how it was built, which says a lot about quality and reliability.

I heard about this speed control design many years ago, but haven't had access to the article. I too own a HW-19 -- simple thing should last forever.
