Saved from the dumpster

Yesterday i saw this Pioneer Pl-12D in the dumpster near the local Goodwill. Missing: belt, headshell, cart, stylus, counterweight. Dust cover broken due to the fall into the dumpster. All the wires had been cut. Today i restored this simple but effective vintage TT. Connected all new wires for signal, ground, power. Took a fitting counterweight from a Marantz arm i'm not using at the moment. Headshell plus vintage AT cart from the old stock. Belt from the drawer.

Actually there is nothing wrong with this TT.This is the quietest PL-12D i've had so far and i restored 5 or 6 of them. There was still plastic on the metal ring on the rubber mat! Almost NOS. This particular thrift store is part of a large organisation that collects the waste in my entire region. They are all for recycling etc. Not.

I'll probably keep this one. I've had too many parts to add to make a sale profitable. And way back as a student in the early 1980s a Pl-12D was my first TT.

"The torture never stops"

Greetings Freek.
